from NYNEX to Bell Atlantic

    1994 to 1999
During my tenure at NYNEX Science & Technology I participated in several overseas assignments, seconded to NYNEX International in Hong Kong, which was very active in overseas markets in both Europe and Asia Pacific. In Monaco, I set up and became Managing Director in the new NYNEX subsidiary office created to work with the national Monaco Telephone Company OMTT, to bring Monaco its own satellite ground station to connect the Municipality directly to overseas voice networks, backing up the existing landlines into France. This facility was built, and is today operated jointly by France Telecom and OMTT. The Monaco office eventually became the primary overseas office for the NYNEX FLAG project, the Fiber optic Link Around the Globe, after I returned to New York.

In Indonesia, as Exelcom's General Manager Information Technology, I set up, staffed and built the IT division in Pt. Exelcomindo Pratama, the third mobile carrier to be licensed in that country, in a joint venture between NYNEX and the Rajawali Corporation, and participated in specifying, closing and executing the contract that had a Siemens / Ericsson conglomerate build the GSM mobile network that would become Exelcom. Today called XL, having been acquired by Malaysia's Axiata Group, the company is the second largest carrier in Indonesia, topping 10 million subscribers in the summer of 2010.
